Designing a great website is not a matter of time and software knowledge - it's a matter of skill and ability. Plenty of people are quite able to make a website but the look bloody awful and just don't work well.





Asides from that - I've been designing websites for over 10 years and am still learning, there's always something new to discover, new technologies emerge every year and you need to learn up on them pretty quickly.I heard it takes some people 3 months to design a great website. I don't think anyone can answer that. Depends on how fast you learn and what you can do. Once you go ahead and try and see if you can catch on, then you should be able to finish your website in no time.
If you learn Flash and Dreamweaver, which are hard as hell to learn, you would definetly be qualified to design your own website. My estimate is that with a good teacher it would take about 3 months to learn, but alone it would take atleast 4 to 6 months. Never know though, you may prove me wrong!

Well, in XP automatic download of browser plugins in disabled. When you click on the Macromedia Flash download link, you might see a message(Gold Bar) pop up on the top of the screen which says that automatic download/installation of the file is stopped. You can use any system font that you have installed on your PC by choosing font and selecting ';Edit font list.'; The problem is this: Any non-standard font will not appear on your website to users that don't have it installed.





So, if you were to publish your website in Arabic, but I don't have the exact same font installed on my computer, when I browse the site, it will be unreadable.





That's why web browsers and publishing software like Dreamweaver uses standard system fonts like Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana, etc. Everyone has those installed by default.

It's not the # of stars or whatever problem. It's understanding what you're trying to do.





Macromedia Flash is a multimedia package designed to do animation/interaction on the web. Microsoft Word is a word processor. The two doesn't really intersect in any way, so saying you're trying to import one document into the other is like saying I need to import a live museum exhibit into a book. That doesn't really make sense.





I'm afraid you'll need to elaborate on that quite a bit.

For a great program, there is nothing to directly compete with Macromedia Dreamweaver, but I have found a great little program called NVU http://www.nvu.com/ however, it is inactive and possibly not being developed anymore. But, a bunch of users who love the product are continuing developing it and have renamed it Kompozer, a temporary branch from NVU until the developers either announce the next version or cancel the product.

I Have Both it depends what you are trying to accomplish there here are the pros with both:





Expression Web:


Pro


1. Thumbnail creator makes that job easier


2.asp.net server download makes it easy to view your content real time even within expression web (making ad rotator ads and some simple program that takes some time even easier)


The only thing is its really only good if you plan to use asp and make sure your server allows it.


3. Basic interface of course similar to dreamweaver and any other web editors.


Con-since expression web offers its own media software, it doesn't have buttons to add flash easy .





DreamWeaver


Pros:


1. Easy image editing allowing you to make picture file size smaller without needing photoshop and even cropping the images within Dreamweaver has some fireworks (hotspot) and photoshop features.


2. More extensions then expression web


3. Allows you to code with all the sideserver codings you need.


4. Spry data with xml (some ajax tools) that are really easy to learn since I am not a pro at programming nor do I have the time and I have made some effective simple applications.

You can download the trial version from Macromedia and try it for 30 days, then continually download it to avoid paying for it. However, I do not recommend doing that as a lot of your projects will be either lost or broken, which happened to me several times.





There are more than enough sites that you can learn Flash from, I recommend playing with the program yourself.

Hmm.. i have a mac book and i was working on a project for my class and needed this flash player. I'm not sure about the installation process but if you have a newer mac, it's probably on there already. This is how i made it work.. go to the finder and than apps. than click on safari and than more info. A box pops up and under general check the box that says ';open using rosetta'; quit safari and than try to use the flash player. This worked for me, i hope this helps.

Uninstall Macromedia Flash. Then look at the camcorder's manual and follow the steps to install the camcorder on the computer. It sounds like the computer doesn't completely recognize the camcorder, so follow the steps carefully. If the camcorder came with software, load it at the correct time.





Once the computer has made nice-nice with the camcorder, download the latest version of Flash and install it. This should get things working.

There might be nothing wrong it all depends on what the server allows for instant's on Myspace they allow html codes with flash but do not allow java. A easy way to check your flash html codes is to try them on a site where you know flash is accepted like Myspace. There are also slight variations from server to server the way you write the code also I use Dreamweaver and have to make minor adjustments for it to look right depending on what server I am posting it on.How come when i go on tagged.com and add html codes with macromedia flash on my page it never works???

Flash is Macromedia product and you can't view flash with out flash player. As for problem with internet explorer, it should be settings, you need to enable Activex in internet explorer.

Click internet, then click custom level. On next screen, make sure ';ActiveX controls and plug-ins'; set to Enabled.





If the option is diabled, you will need to contact adminisitrator to set this.
